I have been asked by a lot of people why a woman does a "Boudoir" photography session. I always had trouble answering that question so I decided to simply ask my clients. Sometimes my subjects were scheduled to have me photograph their weddings and they wanted to give the groom-to-be a truly personal wedding gift. Sometimes the ladies would say that they wanted to give their husbands or boyfriends an intimate gift for their birthday, Valentine’s Day or a Christmas Holiday gift. The answer I got most often, however, was that they were doing the sessions for themselves! They wanted to have an objective, skilled, photographic artist create a fantasy image of themselves that would document and celebrate their beauty. I have done dozens of these sessions in the last few years. To respect my client’s privacy I can share only a few choice images on this web site. Thirty plus years as a portrait photographer has taught me how to find the best in everyone...the most flattering poses, the perfect lighting and posing, the wardrobe that brings out not only the best of a woman’s figure, but of her personality as well. I generally suggest that my model brings an assortment of clothing changes with her. Some even bring their hairstylist with them to create different looks with each outfit. If you can’t arrange for your own hair and makeup styling I have some professionals that I work with on a regular basis. On that note I want you to know that you may feel free to bring along anyone you would like if that would make you feel more comfortable at the session. I have actually done a few group sessions where two or more girls get together, each doing shots for their boyfriends or husbands. My photographic assistant is female and will be at the session to help you with wardrobe choices, jewelry selection, etc. If you still want to do a session like this and are uncomfortable with a male photographer I would be happy to refer you to a female colleague...one of the best known boudoir photography specialists in the Greater New York, NYC, Long Island area. My studio and gallery are located in East Northport, NY convenient to all major highways and one short block from the Northport, NY LIRR (Long Island Railroad) station. I would love to meet you here and create the photograph of your dreams.
