Poetry in Motion or Synchronized Craziness? There is nothing quite like watching a pack of road racing motorcycles head into a sharp turn, pushing the envelope of lean angles, knees to the pavement, at extraordinary speeds, just inches from each other. Such is the scene pictured here going into turn six on the legendary Thunderbolt road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) in Millville, NJ. Scenes like this fortify my feeling that motorcycle road racing is probably my favorite type of speed contest to photograph. Don’t get me wrong. I love them all. Whether it’s a Monster Energy Monster Jam truck event at an indoor venue such as The Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY or the wide open spaces of a track like Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT; where I have photographed the sports car racing of The Pirelli World Cup, The IMSA WeatherTech Northeast Championship and The Continental Tire Sports Car Series, I love being a motorsports photographer. I have stood trackside as the 10,000+ HP Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Race Series thundered by…an experience that defies explanation using any words whatsoever. Photographing speed contests is what I am all about and I love collaborating with others that share my passion for the sports. You could be the editor or art director of a magazine putting together an editorial that revolves around the world of racing. You could be an aftermarket equipment or services provider (or the advertising agency handling those accounts). You could be a race team owner or competitor who is looking for sponsorship to help fund your efforts. You could be a public relations person looking to prepare printed materials for distribution to spectators, fans and VIP guests at the track; or to prepare press releases for publication in any number of periodicals or web portals. Whatever your position is, I want to work with you. I want to bring my skills and vision to the table and be a valuable team member in the behind-the-scenes areas of motorsports racing. As much as I love riding motorcycles (I’ve been at it for more than 40 years) you are never going to find me carving up the track like these fearless riders are doing in this photograph. You will, however, find my pouring my heart and soul into whatever project we are working on together in the world of professional racing.
