PHOTOGRAPHY and MOTORCYLING EDUCATION

Being a professional photographer afforded me the opportunity to have a rewarding career doing something I love to do. One of the things I love to do, more than anything else, is give back to the industry that had been so good to me. One of the greatest rewards that comes with reaching the "age of wisdom" is having a positive impact on the next generation of emerging talent.

I have spoken in a wide variety of venues from small local amateur photo clubs to the annual convention platform of WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) the largest professional organization of it's type in the world. WPPI has honored me with its "Double Master of WPPI" designation...a title held by only 28 photographers in the world as of November, 2018. Arguably, the most important educational experience to attend at WPPI's annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada is the 16 X 20 Print, Album & Filmmaking Competition, where the best photographers from around the world submit their finest works for judging and critique by some of the world's most respected photographers. I have had the honor of being a judge in this competition every single year from 2009 through 2017. I have lectured at WPPI's annual conference on both the Platform and Master Class levels. I have also spoken at various section meetings of PPSNYS (Professional Photographers Society of New York State) and at PPGNY (Professional Photographers of Greater New York). I have also had the privilege of speaking at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City and I regularly conduct seminars and workshops, in conjunction with Berger Bros. Camera, at the Huntington Center for Photographic Art in Huntington, NY.

Since actively retiring from wedding and portrait photography I have become more involved in the publishing industry; writing feature articles and creating photographic images for various publications in the motorcycling world. I have been pursuing long distance motorcycle travel extensively, and have combined that passion with my photography and writing. My first book Road Work: Images and Insights of a Modern Day Explorer” has been published and well-received, earning the #1 bestseller position in Amazon’s Road Travel category. I have presented programs to sanctioned motorcycle clubs on the subjects of creating better travel photos as well as some of the finer points of independent long distance touring. My stories and images have graced the pages of Easy Rider, Iron Horse, Full Throttle, On The Level (the official publication of The BMW Riders Association) and BMW Owners News (the official publication of BMW Motorcycle Owners of America).
