"Leaving Northport I head east as quickly as possible, which unfortunately entails taking some major highways. My first stop will be at the easternmost point on Long Island, The Montauk Point Lighthouse, some 105 miles away. It’s pretty much clear sailing at this early hour until the major thoroughfare ends in Southampton, NY. It is here that "The Trade Parade" begins; the seemingly endless caravan of working folk who head east in the morning for landscaping, construction, home repair and hospitality jobs in the upscale Hamptons area. I make slow progress through Watermill, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Amagansett before traffic loosens up for the last 18 miles out to "The End", as Montauk point is known locally."
-Excerpt from "Road Work: Images and Insights of a Modern Day Explorer"
The excerpt above is from my Amazon #1 best selling road travel book which is available in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon as well as on Apple Books. If you love motorcycle travelogues give this one a read. As the author I may be just a little bit biased, but I happen to think it’s a great one.
Not all of my photographs are created on lengthy, long distance motorcycle journeys far from my home. Some of my favorite images are created during day rides or overnighters, on my BMW motorcycle, right here on beautiful Long Island. This image, entitled "Confrontation at the Cove" is one of the most popular of my fine art editions. It was captured at Montauk, NY; looking towards the Montauk Light House from a vantage point at Camp Hero State Park. The cove in the foreground is called Turtle Cove and is a popular spot with both surf fisherman and surfers…but rarely at the same time. I have spent many days exploring the east end of Long Island from Southampton to Montauk Point, and have created many wonderful images in this oceanfront stretch of land known as the south fork. In addition to being a very popular collectible fine art edition in my body of personal work, this image has gathered much critical acclaim. It has hung in two juried art shows at two different venues in East Hampton, NY. It is also offered for acquisition in prestigious art galleries in The Hamptons, New York City and Ottawa, Canada. I’m truly grateful for being blessed with the ideal environmental conditions under which I captured this image. The image was captured many years ago using a Nikon DSLR camera equipped with a Nikkor zoom lens. In retrospect, I was probably traveling on one of my Harley-Davidson motorcycles back when this image was created. The original digital image was processed using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom software on my Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer. It is also one of my most awarded images in professional photography competitions. On the local level at PPGNY (Professional Photographers of Greater New York) this image was awarded Best-In-Show in their image competition. On the international level, this image earned a silver award at the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) annual 16 X 20 Print, Album and Film Making Competition held annually at the MGM Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. "Confrontation at the Cove" is available artist direct. Use the contact page on this web site to acquire a copy. "Confrontation at the Cove" can be printed to any size on a variety of materials. I would be happy to quote a price for any size and material that fits your collection. I hope you enjoy viewing this image as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks for taking a look.
