Travel Photographer Writer Hurricane Dorian Long Island NY Picture
Not all of my photographs are created on lengthy, long distance motorcycle journeys far from my home. Truth be told I’m glad I wasn’t out on the road on two wheels when this image presented itself just a few hundred yards from my Northport, New York home. You see these are the remains of Hurricane Dorian which passed by close to my Long Island residence on September 7, 2019. Hurricane Dorian was an extremely powerful and catastrophic Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, which became the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and tied for strongest landfall in the Atlantic basin. It is also regarded as the worst natural disaster in The Bahamas' recorded history. It was also one of the most powerful hurricanes recorded in The Atlantic Ocean in terms of one minute sustained winds, with those winds peaking at 185 mph. In addition, Dorian surpassed Hurricane Irma of 2017 to become the most powerful Atlantic hurricane on record outside of the Caribbean Sea. I captured this image with my Nikon Z7 mirrorless camera equipped with a Nikkor zoom lens. This image was processed in "my digital darkroom" using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop software applications on my Apple MacBook Pro computer. My photographic images and written words have reached the pages of many magazines and online portals in the photographic, motorcycle, motorsports, travel and hospitality industries.
